Cyprianerhof Dolomit Resort, a member of Vitalpina® Hotels Südtirol, is a 5-star hotel in Tiers Rosengarten (Tires al Catinaccio), gateway to Schlern-Rosengarten Nature Park and the Carezza ski resort in the Dolomites.
From its outstanding gourmet mountain cuisine, thoughtfully-crafted weekly program, and extensive wellness facilities, this beautifully-situated mountain resort leaves nothing to be desired, no matter which season you visit. The vibe is refreshingly relaxed and genuine, befitting of its alpine location.
Run by the young and energetic Damian family, who respect nature, believe in community, and dare to dream, Cyprianerhof stands out in its willingness to embrace new ideas and challenge the status quo. Here, open-air opera productions are staged in summer, solo travelers are valued as much as couples and families, and sustainability is a necessity.
We loved staying here in mid-June, but hope to return someday in winter.

The Location

Surrounded by hay fields and facing the Rosengarten (Catinaccio) and Schlern (Sciliar) Dolomites, Cyprianerhof enjoys an idyllic mountain setting in the hamlet of St. Zyprian (San Cipriano) in Tires.
During the summer and autumn seasons, Cyprianerhof is an ideal base camp for hiking, via ferrata climbing, and e-biking. I recommend hiking Tschamintal (Val Ciamin), climbing the Santnerpass Via Ferrata, tracing the Hirzelsteig from Kölnerhütte to Paolina Hütte, and visiting Lake Carezza.
In winter, this hotel is a perfect place to stay for snowshoeing as well as skiing in the fabulous Carezza ski resort. The Tires-Frommer Alm cable car is located directly across the street, providing a seamless ski connection to the resort.

There are direct bus connections from Cyprianerhof (bus stop: Tires al Catinaccio, Cyprianerhof Dolomit Resort) to Bolzano, Siusi (Siusi-Alpe di Siusi cable car valley station), Castelrotto, Passo Costalunga, and many other destinations.
Those traveling without a car will have no difficulty getting around. If you’re arriving by transit, request your digital MobilCard South Tyrol, so that you can use South Tyrolean transit for free on the day of your arrival.
The Rooms

We stayed in the “Delago” double room, a 36 m² alpine-minimalist space with hardwood oak floors, loden upholstered furnishings, and a terrastone-tiled bathroom. I loved our balcony view of the meadows, backed by the towering Rosengarten mountains.
The room is equipped with a mini fridge, which can be filled upon request, a kettle and a nespresso machine.
The bathroom, illuminated with a soothing violet light, is appointed with Vitalis Dr. Joseph cosmetics (body lotion, shampoo & body wash, and conditioner).

Solo Travelers | At Cyprianerhof, solo travelers are very welcome. There are 13 single rooms in the resort. And solo travelers can join community dinners.
AC | Newly-renovated rooms have air-conditioning, but the older rooms do not. The hotel’s Co-Director informed us that AC will be installed in the rooms as renovations continue.
Dining

The dining area extends across several light-drenched rooms. Guests are assigned a specific table for dinner, but breakfast is open seating. In the summer, when the sun sets around 9 pm, it was a joy to dine under the glass ceiling, with views of the clouds. And so long as the weather cooperates, you can eat your breakfast on the sunny terrace.
Dinner

Cyprianerhof’s 5-course dinner is sensational. Every single day, the chefs craft a unique menu, based on what they can source from local and regional suppliers and the community garden in Tires (Bergler Acker). They treat all ingredients with care and respect, and endeavor to reduce food waste as much as possible. Everything I tasted was culinary perfection.
Apart from their intentional, responsible, and nose-to-tail approach to cooking, I loved the flexibility of the dining experience. Guests are invited to set the pace and choose their courses as they go, re-order a course they especially loved, or even order two main courses, if they are still hungry. You can also substitute any dishes for the plant-based alternatives, also listed on the menu.
After the dessert course, guests can help themselves to the fresh fruit, cheese, and homemade ice cream buffet.
Diets & Food Intolerances | Cyprianerhof can accommodate different diets and intolerances. Do inform them in advance if you have any specific allergies.
Breakfast
The breakfast buffet is complete and generous. I especially loved the selection of organic loose leaf teas, regional cheeses, high-quality fruits, and homemade cakes. The breakfast menu features egg dishes, crepes, pancakes, and espresso drinks, all of which you can order at the table.
Bar & Bistro

Much of the joy of returning to Cyprianerhof in the afternoon after a jaunt in the mountains is sitting down on the terrace with your favorite drink. The bar & bistro offer an extensive list of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The homemade lemonade tastes like summer vacation. And, their Aperol Spritz is second to none.
Weekly Activity Program

At its core, Cyprianerhof is a hiking hotel. The owners’ philosophy is that wellness is achieved by hiking in the mountains, the healthiest way to connect with your body and disconnect from all the distractions of our fast-moving world. After hours in the mountains, guests are welcomed back into the hotel with nourishing food and relaxing wellness spaces.
To ensure that all guests can access the mountains according to their ability and mode of transport, Cyprianerhof has designed numerous point-to-point and circular hiking tours starting directly at the hotel by foot, transit (free for all guests), or cable car. There is absolutely no need to use, or even rent a car, if you base yourself in this resort for multiple days.
Cyprianerhof offers 1-2 guided hiking tours each day (snowshoe tours in winter). Some of these tours are led by senior host Martin Damian, a passionate hiker, certified hiking and mountain guide, and one of the founding members of the Vitalpina Hotels. These tours vary from leisurely half-day walks to strenuous, heart-pounding all-day tours starting directly at the hotel, Val di Fassa, Val d’Ega, and Alpe di Siusi. Guests can join as many tours as they’d like during their stay, at no extra charge.
I joined the guided Rosengarten Panorama Hike, a relaxed tour that utilized the local cable cars to access the Hirzelsteig, Lake Carezza, Moseralm, and Messnerjoch Hütte. Apart from the ease of following a guide, the best part of the hike was creating connections with other guests on the trail. After the hike, it was fun to connect with those guests at the hotel, making the whole resort experience more intimate.
Good to Know:
- In the lobby, there are binders filled with fabulous hiking tour recommendations in English, German, and Italian, for those that want to hike independently.
- There’s a hiking backpack in each room, which you can use for the duration of your stay. You can also borrow hiking poles, which are available at the reception.
Guided E-Bike Tours | There are a few e-bike tours per week. You can rent e-bikes on-site. During our stay, the rental cost was 59 EUR per person per day.
Fitness & Wellbeing Classes | Cyprianerhof offers numerous classes each week including TAKETINA, Yoga, 5 Tibetan Rites, Stretching, and Forest Bathing.
Culture Program | In addition to all the active program offerings, guests also have the opportunity to join art, music, and literature activities like wine tasting paired with music experiences, chamber music ensembles, and even opera productions.
Wellness and Spa

Cyprianerhof boasts a 2,400 m² wellness area with 5 saunas, an ice plunge pool, whirlpool, natural swimming pond, indoor-outdoor pool, and multiple relaxation spaces.
The sauna zone is divided into two areas, with one part located beneath the hotel and the other part located at the top of the garden. The upper sauna zone, partially underground, is a playground for adults. It features a salt relaxation room, a glass panoramic sauna, a room with swinging infrared chairs, showers, and a tea bar. Outside, there’s a plunge pool, whirlpool, and another sauna, housed in a hay hut structure.

Having visited in summer, I, like other guests, spent most of my time outside lounging in the garden. A QR code system makes it easy to order drinks to your pool-side or pond-side lounger.

More features:
- There’s a large, well-equipped gym and yoga room
- Spa treatments and massages are available
- There are daily sauna infusions.
Sustainability at Cyprianerhof

Once a week, Co-Director Michael Damian (Junior host) leads a “Behind the Scenes” tour in German, Italian, and/or English. He explains the history and expansion of the hotel as well as the hotel’s unique 5-pillar Cultura Dolomiti philosophy.
The tour ends with a tour of the CO₂-neutral wood chip heating system, laundry room, and kitchen. My main takeaway from the tour was that Cyprianerhof is a hiking hotel at heart, with an unwavering commitment to sustainability.
Energy | Cyprianerhof is supplied entirely with green energy and highly energy-efficient, relying on hydropower, photovoltaics, wood-chip boilers, and a heat recovery system.
Laundry | All laundry is done in-house using eco-friendly detergents, eliminating delivery-related carbon emissions and packaging waste.
Food Waste | Food should never go to waste. By planning thoughtfully and finding creative uses for surplus ingredients, they keep waste to an absolute minimum.
Local Suppliers | As much as possible, Cyprianerhof sources their ingredients from local suppliers. Co-Director Monika Damian (Junior host) has spent years cultivating relationships with local farmers, building a supply network that supports the regional economy while providing the hotel kitchen with high-quality ingredients.
