A Look Inside Altstadthotel Weisses Kreuz in Innsbruck, Austria

Housed in a 15-century building in the heart of Innsbruck’s pedestrian area, 4-star Altstadthotel Weisses Kreuz is a modern boutique hotel with 48 rooms.

It’s the perfect base for an Innsbruck city trip, because it’s located in the historic Altstadt (Old Town) of the Tyrolean capital, steps away from the city’s best restaurants, bars, and attractions.

Apart from the central location, we particularly loved our beautifully-furnished and air-conditioned room. But, the best part of our stay was the decadent breakfast.

The Location

Altstadthotel Weisses Kreuz is located in the pedestrian zone of Innsbruck’s Old Town, a short stroll to Stadtturm (Watchtower), Goldenes Dachl (Golden Room), Hofburg (Imperial Palace), Innbrücke (Inn Bridge), Innsbrucker Dom (St. James Cathedral), and the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum.

For a car-free trip, the location couldn’t be better. You can walk to every city center attraction within a few minutes.

Additionally, Innsbruck’s finest restaurants are conveniently located within walking distance.

If you need a break from sightseeing, or hopping between Christmas Markets, you can easily return to the hotel to rest.

Check-in / Check-out

The reception is located on the top floor of the Altstadthotel Weisses Kreuz building. Enter the building and take the elevator to the 6th floor.

At check-in, we were treated to a welcome drink of our choice–prosecco, or coffee–whilst the front desk formally checked us in (e.g. recording passport details, etc…).

The reception spills into the blue and gold hotel lounge, which serves as the breakfast room in the morning and the Blaue Brigitte cocktail bar in the evening.

The whole check-in process was smooth and enjoyable. The polished reception staff made an overwhelmingly positive impression.

On the day of departure, we stored our luggage in the lockers, located on the ground level. Ask the reception for instructions.

Check-in | 3 pm

Check-out | 11 am

The Rooms

Altstadthotel Weisses Kreuz hotel large double bedroom, Innsbruck, Austria

A variety of rooms and suites in varying sizes and designs, all equipped with air-conditioning, are available at Altstadthotel Weißes Kreuz.

Our spacious 28 m² double room featured a soothing mauve color scheme, reflected in the wall, curtains, carpet, bathroom tiles, and sink basin, accented by gold and black.

The generous layout provides ample space for two suitcases.

We enjoyed the conformable seating arrangement, consisting of a blush-pink velvet chair, coffee table, and chair. It was nice to rest here, when we needed a break from touring the city.

The bathroom exudes contemporary elegance, with its open shower concept, separate toilet, and washing area, stylishly integrated into the room.

Breakfast

Altstadthotel Weisses Kreuz hotel regional breakfast buffet, Innsbruck, Austria

The highlight of our stay was the luxurious breakfast, an indulgent feast that transformed our mourning into a lavish event.

The breakfast buffet is a generous spread of fresh fruit, regional cheeses, various spreads, marinated and raw vegetables (cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, artichokes, zucchini, peppers, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms), salads (tomato and mozzarella), cakes, yogurts and cereals, and breads.

In addition, guests can order made-to-order egg dishes, pancakes, and Tyrolean ham.

There are two juicers, one for oranges and then other for vegetables. Additionally, there are a set of carafes with juices. Next to the juice buffet, you’ll find premium teas. Coffee is served to the table.

Breakfast is served between 7 am and 11 am.

Blaue Brigitte Bar

Starting at 6pm, hotel and outside guests spill into the 6th floor to enjoy cocktails, wine, and champagne.

When we arrived after dinner, the bar was bursting with lucky patrons who snagged much-coveted seats. Since the bar was at full capacity, we didn’t get to partake in the fun.

Reservations are not accepted.

Parking

There is no on-site parking. If you’re arriving by car, park at the Altstadt Garage (Google Maps). You can pay for parking at a discounted rate at the hotel reception.
