The Location
Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel is located in Mösern, a hamlet on the edge of the Seefeld plateau in Tyrol, high above the Inntal Valley.
With Nidum’s isolated location on the Seefeld Plateau comes stellar views of the Inn Valley and Tyrolean Alps, tremendous peace, and a sense of exclusivity.
Though Nidum Hotel feels a world apart from bustling “urban” areas, it’s only a 5-minute drive to the town center of Seefeld, a 30-minute drive to Innsbruck, a 25-minute drive to Mittenwald, and a 40-minute drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The best way to experience Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel and its breathtaking surroundings is with your own car. A rental car will enable you to get to the trailheads at Gaistal Valley, Leutasch, Scharnitz, Mittenwald, and other destinations.
On days where you’d rather not drive, you can walk from the hotel to Möserer See and Brunschkopf. Consult this three lakes trail guide.
During our stay, we hiked the sensational Rotmoosalm – Wetterstein Hut Circuit Trail, starting in Gaistal Valley. We also walked through the Leutasch Gorge from Schanz.
During our next visit, we hope to hike to Meilerhütte (mountain hut), Predigtstuhl (peak), and Seefelder Spitze (peak).
If you visit in winter, you can explore Seefeld’s 245 kilometers of cross-country ski trails. You can purchase a cross-country ski ticket for the Seefeld region at the reception.

NIDUM Casual Luxury Hotel Property
Nidum Hotel is a terraced structure, built into the hillside at the edge of a forest.
Most of the hotel facilities are contained within the main building. The exceptions are the natural swimming pool and the outdoor Finnish sauna, accessible via a swing bridge from the spa area.
Check-in
Upon arrival, you can drive directly into the hotel garage. There’s an elevator that connects the garage to the reception and the other floors of the hotel.
The hotel lobby design impresses with its sleek, gray tiled walls, high ceilings, and contemporary design. The reception area spills into the stylish bar, an altogether inviting space filled with plush seating arrangements.
The check-in process was efficient and uncomplicated.
Guests are treated to a welcome drink, of their choosing, at any time during their stay.
The Rooms at NIDUM Casual Luxury Hotel
The rooms at Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel are elegantly put together with natural wood furnishings and wardrobes, wool carpets, cream-colored sofas, armchairs, and beds draped in snow-white bedding.
A harmonious color palette of honey-brown, ivory-cream, rusty-red, and slate-gray paired with high-quality natural materials and subtle lighting promote relaxation.
The room design is further enhanced by the floor-to-ceiling windows, which maximize natural light and accentuate the alpine surroundings.
All rooms at Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel enjoy a similar outlook of the mountains and Inn Valley. At night, the Inntal looks like an incandescent river of glow worms.
There are a few different room categories, ranging from 35m2 double rooms to 52m2-72m2 suites. There’s also a 118m2 penthouse suite with its own private terrace and sauna.
Room extras: coffee maker and tea kettle with teas, La Biosthetique cosmetics, room safe, and TV.
NIDUM Wellness and Spa
The Nidum spa offers a wide range of massage and beauty treatments. You can book all desired treatments at the spa desk.
Like most hotels in the Austrian Alps, the wellness area is divided into a textile zone and a textile-free zone.
The textile zone comprises the indoor-outdoor pool and terrace, the fitness room, yoga-stretching room, and the tea room with a generous selection of teas and candied dried fruit (which ought to be replaced with natural dried fruit, in our humble opinion).
The textile-free zone comprises the sauna area, made-up of 3 indoor saunas (steam, Finnish, and saunarium), 1 outdoor Finnish sauna, an outdoor whirlpool, an outdoor plunge pool, and an indoor relaxation area and showers.
We particularly loved the panoramic views from the outdoor pool and whirlpool. We also enjoyed the candle-lit ambience in the evening.
In addition to the main wellness area, there’s also a natural bathing pool, set between the forest and meadow behind the hotel.
The biggest drawback to the spa area is the insufficient relaxation space in the sauna area. It felt a bit cramped. This is likely a non-issue during the warmer months, when people are more inclined to lounge outside.
Dining at Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel
The dining area extends across three rooms, each uniquely furnished and decorated.
Seats are assigned and you’ll stay at the same table for the full duration of your stay.
We highly recommend booking half board (breakfast and dinner). Dinner at Nidum is outstanding, incomparable, the best of the best.
Good to Know | If you have any food allergies, communicate your intolerances or dietary needs to the hotel in advance of your stay.
Dinner
Apart from our forest- and mountain-facing room, our favorite part about our stay at Nidum Casual Luxury Hotel was the divine half board dinner. What a treat!!
Dinner commences with a generous and heavenly salad and appetizer buffet, brimming with colorful salads and spreads, smoked fish and/or roast beef, Nidum’s special chicken paste, grilled vegetables, and much more.
Dinner continues with soup, followed by a main dish, dessert, and cheese buffet with chutneys There’s a vegetarian option for each served course.
The cuisine pays homage to the region’s flavors and ingredients. Each course was sensational.
Furthermore, we were wowed by the precision and professionalism of the dining staff. The pacing was perfect and attuned to each guest’s wishes.
You can eat dinner any time between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm.
Breakfast
A rich and beautiful breakfast buffet is laid out each morning between 7:30 am and 10:30 am.
Expect a tempting selection of Austrian breads, pastries, and cakes: Nussschnecke, Topfengolatschen, Sacher-Torte, Mohnstrudel, Strietzel, croissants, and muffins.
Bowls, overflowing with berries and fruits, line one side of the buffet.
There’s also Bircher Müsli, yogurts, cheeses, sliced meats, spreads (Liptauer, cream cheese, etc…) and everything else you could possibly want.
You can order egg dishes at the egg station.
In addition, there’s an entire room dedicated to juicing. You can make freshly squeezed orange juice, or a vegetable-fruit concoction of your choosing using the readily available lemons, limes, apples, cucumbers, carrots, celery, and ginger.
Coffee and tea are served to the table.
The hotel staff are extremely diligent in refilling and replenishing all the plates throughout breakfast.
Though the breakfast is more than adequate, the buffet area is rather small and can feel a bit cramped. I know this is flawed-American thinking in most cases, but sometimes bigger is truly better.
Good to Know | Each morning, guests are give a morning post, which provides information about the evening’s menu and tips for exploring Nidum’s surroundings.
Lunch
You can order lunch from the à la carte menu at the bar between 12 pm and 4:30 pm.
The Wiener Schnitzel was exceptional.
Bar
The lounge is a luscious space filled with velvet-upholstered armchairs, leather bar stools, and bench seating that unfurl from the island-bar.
During the warmer months, you can also enjoy your drinks on the terrace, directly outside the bar.
On certain evenings, guests are treated to live music in the bar and lounge.
Service and Staff
Excellent, especially the dining staff!

Getting around Austria
Austria has an excellent public transit system. We’ve used it extensively to travel throughout the country. We highly recommend using transit if you’re visiting cities (Vienna, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Graz, etc…), and/or doing hut-to-hut hikes.
Some areas like Mayrhofen, Schladming and Lech am Arlberg have wonderful seasonal transit systems in place (e.g. summer hiking buses). However, if you’re not visiting during the high season, bus frequencies are significantly reduced and it’s far easier to get around with your own vehicle.
If you’re planning on visiting multiple destinations across Austria, we recommend renting a car.
Use these road trip itineraries for trip planning inspiration:
- 2 Week Austria Road Trip – starting in Vienna
- 1 Week Austria Road Trip – starting in Salzburg, or Munich
- 10-Day Bavarian Alps & Tyrolean Alps Road Trip – starting in Munich
Car Rental
We recommend using the Discovercars.com car rental reservation platform to search for and book car rentals. This easy-to-use booking platform compares car rental deals from 500+ trusted providers, so that you can choose the best option for your trip.
If you’re driving into Austria from a neighboring country, don’t forget to purchase a vignette at/near the border.
