Žabljak serves as the lively gateway to Durmitor National Park in Montenegro. The town center is concentrated around Vuka Karadžića, the main thoroughfare connecting the P5 with the main park entrance leading to Lake Crno Jezero.
Žabljak offers a solid array of hotels and accommodations, including hotels, B&Bs, homestay guesthouses, A-frame cabins, and apartments. In our experience, accommodations are managed by hardworking and sincere locals, who strive to ensure that each guest’s stay is a success.
Rustic, yet charming, this mountain town feels worlds away from the Adriatic Coast. Zabljak hotels and accommodations may be more modest, but the service and customer care is excellent.
We have personally stayed in Hotel Soa (4-star luxury hotel), Guest House Durmitor Paradise (midrange guesthouse), and Casa di Pino Eco Lodge (midrange B&B). We thoroughly enjoyed our experience in each accommodation for different reasons outlined below.

Hotel Soa
Hotel Soa is a 4-star luxury hotel in Durmitor National Park.
The hotel lies on the edge of the town center, walking distance to the park entrance (15-minute walk) and Crno Jezero (30-minute walk).
The hotel’s location affords the most ease in terms of arrival and departure, as the hotel stands just off the main road with plentiful on-site parking, and guests benefit from the 24-hour front desk.
Because Hotel Soa is set apart from the main residential area of Žabljak, it’s also quiet (no early morning mowing, or late night conversations).
We were extremely impressed by the hotel’s polished staff, who collectively exhibited a high level of professionalism throughout our stay. The reception was always staffed, making check-in, check-out, wellness booking, asking questions, etc… seamless.
Guests are greeted with a welcome drink upon arrival.
Rooms and apartments are clean and comfortable, but perhaps in need of an update.
An overflowing buffet brimming with Montenegrin specialities, fresh fruit, pastries, and local food are laid out in the breakfast room, located on the ground level. Made-to-order eggs are served to the table.
Connected to the lounge-bar, the hotel restaurant is a relaxing and casual space, offering a satisfying range of dishes.
The small wellness area comprises a steam sauna and Finnish sauna. Guests can book one private complimentary hour per day. Massage treatments can be booked on-site.
Overall, we think Hotel Soa provides the most comfort and ease in Žabljak.

Casa di Pino
Casa di Pino Eco Lodge is a cheerful, lovingly-run bed and breakfast with on-site parking in a residential area of Žabljak, walking distance to all the town’s restaurants and shops.
This 4-star accommodation offers 8 rooms and apartments, each tastefully-furnished and aesthetically pleasing. We loved the design and layout of our 2-story apartment.
The breakfast room, which doubles as a tea lounge, is a comfortable communal space for reading, planning, and meeting other travelers. On Saturday nights, Casa di Pino hosts a free tea tasting.
The breakfast buffet is a small, but frequently replenished spread of homemade and local, high-quality cheeses and cold cuts, watermelon, and unique sweet and savory breakfast foods like zucchini pancakes, spinach-rice-soy strudel, and Apfelstrudel. Yogurt and homemade granola are also available. The buffet is further enriched by made-to-order eggs.
With advanced notice, Casa di Pino can accommodate vegans and vegetarians.
Guests can book the Linden Finnish Sauna for private use at no extra cost (45-minute sessions).
We were extremely impressed by Casa di Pino’s email responsiveness. Before our stay, they quickly answered our questions, gave us restaurant recommendations, and made us dinner reservations.

Guest House Durmitor Paradise
Tucked away on a residential street in Žabljak, the 3-star Guest House Durmitor Paradise provides a range of rooms and apartments of varying sizes.
We stayed in the spacious duplex apartment, a thoughtfully put together unit with the kitchen, bathroom, and living space on the ground floor and the bedroom on the top floor. This particular apartment was spotless and comfortable, ideal for a stay of any duration.
Jelena runs Guest House Durmitor Paradise with unmatched kindness, humor, and energy. We enjoyed every interaction with our host.
The garden, scattered with comfortable outdoor furniture, serves as the laid-back gathering area for guests, who unwind at the end of the day with a bottle of wine, book, and conversation.
In the garden, we savored a delicious, homemade dinner made up of a delicious stew, salad, and homemade bread. Jelena prepares all meals herself and procures ingredients and produce from regional farmers.
Breakfast is served to your apartment, or laid out in the garden (weather depending).
For a homey and intimate atmosphere, we recommend staying in Guest House Durmitor Paradise.
